My name is Jack Shippee, and I'm a Software Developer with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and a minor in Classics from the University of New Hampshire.
My main area of expertise is Game development, as well as Systems and Algorithm development.
My time at UNH, as well as high school, has given me extensive experience with relevant tools, languages, and development practices that gives life to the projects I work on.
I am also planning on achieving my Master's Degree in Computer Science.
The "Cognitive Games in VR" project consists of two cognitive tests, the "N-Back" and "Tower of London" tests, designed and developed by our team for the purpose of studying the the correlation between physical balance and cognitive function in VR.
Our project followed Agile methodologies in our development cycles in order to provide regular and meaningful progress to our sponsor, the MOVE Lab of UNH, meaning my responsibilities as team lead were to facilitate communication with the sponsor as well as division of labor amongst the group. My responsibilities as a developer were within the design of the "N-Back Test" within the Unity 3D environment as well as the functionality of the test itself and its accompanying scripts.
The project was awarded First Place in CS: Applications as the UNH Undergraduate Research conference.
A 2D platforming game built in Java with Android Studio, LibGDX, and Tiled, "Fighting Stagnation" was developed as apart of my Game Development class.
My teammates led the art direction as well as UI/UX design meaning my responsibility was to develop the functionality of the game. This included implementation of player/enemy movement and animations, collisions, as well as level design.
You can find these, and my other projects, on my GitHub page at the link above!
